Governor Pillen signed a proclamation declaring April 21-27, 2024 as the 10th year of Nebraska Public Transit Week. Show your support for a service that helps thousands of Nebraskans stay mobile and access critical services like education, employment, and medical care.

    Auburn Office

    Syracuse Office

    • All Week — Daily drawings.
    • Monday — Free ride to the Senior Center for lunch.
    • Tuesday — Coloring pages, word find, guess how many miles the Syracuse bus traveled in March.
    • Wednesday — Sweet treats.
    • Thursday — All passengers ride free.
    • Friday — Veterans ride free.

    Wymore Office

    • All Week — Goody bags. Everyone who rides is entered into a prize drawing on Friday.
  • CEDAR COUNTY TRANSIT

    • All Week — Bring a friend along for free.
    • All Week — Receive a token of appreciation.
    • All Week — Chance to win $10 ride certificate, every ride qualifies you.
    • Thursday — Transit talk and tour building at 10:30 A.M. Learn how transit works, ask questions, and enjoy coffee and cookies. Let us know if you need a ride, we will provide transportation.
  • CHADRON CITY TRANSIT

    • Theme — Mardi Gras: See how many bead necklaces you receive. Each time you ride you get a bead necklace.
    • Monday — Wear your Mardi Gras attire and spin the wheel to see how many free rides you earn. One spin per day.
    • Tuesday — Bring a canned food item to support NCAP to ride free for the day.
    • Wednesday — Free burgers at the transit offce from 11:30 A.M.-1 P.M. with free will donations accepted.
    • Thursday — Driver Appreciation Day: Ride and say thanks to our wonderful drivers.
    • Friday — Closed for Arbor Day.
  • CITY OF NELIGH DIAL-A-RIDE PUBLIC TRANSIT

    • Monday — Spotlight on Dial-A-Ride: Riders will receive a flashlight.
    • Tuesday — Community Awareness: Pre-designated areas in town will be visited with brochures and a treat.
    • Wednesday — I Love Public Transit: Riders will receive a water bottle with a transit sticker and conversation “heart” candy.
    • Thursday — Treats on Transit with Dial-A-Ride: Riders will be treated to old fashioned air popped popcorn.
    • Friday — Driver Appreciation: Drivers will be honored.
  • CITY OF TECUMSEH/JOHNSON COUNTY PUBLIC TRANSIT

    • All Week — We will be handing out items for Public Transit Week.
    • Monday — BOGO Ticket Day:  Buy one ticket for $10 (10 one way rides or five round trip rides), get one ticket free. Limit is one deal per riding passenger only. Passengers name must go on the ticket when purchased. Must contact bus and purchase on Monday only.
    • Tuesday — Free Ride Day: One free round trip ride within city limits.
    • Wednesday — Celebrating the 10th year of Nebraska Public Transit Week: The 10th person to ride the bus wins a free 10-punch ticket.
    • Thursday — Free Ride Day: One free round trip ride within city limits.
    • Friday — No Bus: Arbor Day Holiday
  • GARDEN COUNTY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

    • All Week — Take a selfie on the bus. Share your favorite recipe(s) to create a cookbook to share.
    • Monday — Appreciation Day (drivers, vehicle cleaners, customers): Free in county rides, swag giveaways.
    • Tuesday — Caption the meme/photo and swag giveaways.
    • Wednesday — Popcorn, BINGO, and other games and swag giveaways.
    • Thursday — Stuff the Bus from 12-5 P.M. at Superette: Bring non-perishable food items, household items, and diapers for the diaper depot. Raffle for donated items from local businesses; winners will be notified by telephone.
    • Friday — Closed for Arbor Day.
  • KCTS

    • Monday — BINGO begins (play all week long).
    • Tuesday — Coloring page, word find, and Spot the Bus begin (play all week long). How to play Spot the Bus: Take a photo of one of our vehicles on the road and post it to our Facebook page. 
    • Wednesday — Driver Appreciation Day: Give your favorite driver a shoutout on our Facebook page.
    • Thursday — Funny Hat Day: Wear your WILDEST hat.
    • Friday — Raffle Day: All participants will be entered into a raffle for the chance to win a KCTS gift certificate. Winners will be chosen for each event in addition to the all participant raffle on Friday, April 26. Like, share, and repost to spread the fun to everyone. Updates will be provided daily.
  • METRO

  • MIDLAND PUBLIC TRANSIT

    • Monday — Customer Appreciation Day: Give out special goodies.
    • Tuesday — Find the Stickers: Whoever finds the most stickers wins a prize.
    • Wednesday — Guessing Contest: Guess how many miles Midland Public Transit travels during Nebraska Public Transit Week. Post your guess on our Facebook page.
    • Thursday — Spin the Wheel: Using a spinner wheel with the numbers one through five on it, riders spin when they board and receive that many free rides for the week.
    • Friday — Staff Appreciation Day: There will be a card hanging in the bus during the week and we will ask all the riders to sign it with their thanks.
  • NORTH PLATTE PUBLIC TRANSIT SYSTEM

    Monday-Saturday

  • SAUNDERS COUNTY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

    • Monday – Public Awareness Day:  Information regarding our services will be distributed to various places in the county to continue to bring awareness of our services to the public.
    • Tuesday – Half Price Rides (Trip to Lincoln): All passengers will pay half the regular fare amount.
    • Wednesday – Staff Appreciation Day.  
    • Thursday – Half Price Rides (Trip to Fremont): All riders will pay half the regular fare amount.
    • Friday – Passenger Appreciation/Free Rides (Wahoo Only): All passengers will ride for free. 
  • SCHUYLER PUBLIC TRANSIT

    • Monday — Half Price: Ride for half price.
    • Tuesday — Transit Giveaway: Receive a gift.
    • Wednesday — Guessing Day: Guess how many riders rode the bus on Tuesday and get a $6 pass.
    • Thursday — Appreciation Day: All riders get a free cookie. 
    • Friday — Nebraska Day: Wear red.
  • TRI VALLEY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

    • All Week — All veterans ride for free (within a 50 miles radius) and all passengers receive a free gift.
    • Monday — Scavenger hunt for all staff.
    • Tuesday — Two passengers ride for the price of one.
    • Wednesday and Thursday — Donate a canned good and ride free up to 26 miles.
    • Friday — Driver Appreciation Week: Donuts for all staff.


  • TRI-CITY ROADRUNNER

    • All Week — Riders can register to win donations from local businesses each time they ride. Drawing will take place the following week.
    • Monday — Passenger Appreciation and Earth Day: All rides are free. Giveaways available for passengers: flashlights, multi-tools, tote bags, and sticker sheets.
    • Tuesday — Buddy Day: Two riders for the price of one or pay one way for a round trip if alone.
    • Wednesday —  Veterans Appreciation: Veterans ride free (DD-214, Active/ Veteran/VA ID, Driver’s License/ID with “Veteran” designation required).
    • Thursday — Staff Appreciation Day: Transit manager will provide lunch in the office for all staff.
    • Friday — Selfie Day: Passengers are encouraged to take selfies of themselves on our buses or with driver.
  • YORK COUNTY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

    • All Week — Free goodies for riders. New passengers and veterans ride free. Spot the bus drawing for prize. Opportunity for driver appreciation.
  • VALLEY COUNTY TRANSIT SYSTEM

    • All Week — Departments of the hospital are decorating used tires and we will have the tires on display at the front entrance of the hospital and we will have a box for people to vote and bid. Silent auction on Friday and the proceeds will go to purchase rides for out of town trips for low income individuals.
    • All Week — All passengers for the week of April 22-26 will be entered into a raffle for a free punch card. 
    • All Week — All passengers will receive either a goodie bag or a reusable shopping bag.
    • Monday — Guess how many miles all three vans will travel the week of April 22-26. Post your guess on our Facebook page or email your guess to scopp@vchsne.org.
    • Tuesday — Wayne on Party Line Part 2 Radio show.
    • Wednesday — Driver appreciation small gift.
    • Thursday — Lennie will be on the radio in the morning.
    • Friday — Silent Auction of the tires.
